Pakistan opener Saim Ayub said their team will decide the bowling combination against India in their next match of Asia Cup 2025 depending on the pitch. During the press conference, he added that if the pitch is slow, they might even play three spinners.

“We try to assess the conditions on the match day. It’s about how the pitch looks on the day. If it’s very dry, then we’ll go with three spinners, and if we feel the pitch will assist the pacers, then the coach will go with that.”

Pakistan played two specialist spinners — Sufiyan Muqeem and Abrar Ahmed — in their first match. Mohammad Nawaz played as an all-rounder, while Ayub also bowled spin. All of them contributed with wickets. Ayub and Muqeem took two wickets each, while Ahmed and Nawaz claimed one apiece.

Both India and Pakistan started their campaigns with victories. India dominated UAE, winning by nine wickets with 93 balls to spare, while Pakistan defeated Oman by 93 runs.

In Group A, India top the table with two points, with Pakistan in second place on the same number, but trailing significantly on net run rate. The high-voltage clash between the two rivals is scheduled for Sunday, September 14, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
