Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan said that if India’s leading pacer Jasprit Bumrah is in form, then Fakhar Zaman will not pose any problem for India in their next match against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025. Speaking on Sony Sports, Irfan also mentioned that Bumrah is a smart bowler who knows how to approach a particular game.
“When we saw Bumrah in the last match, he was bowling with control and easing in. He is very smart and knows how to pace himself. When you see him playing against Pakistan, he will be seen in a different pace and a different zone. Fakhar Zaman is a player who plays fast and tries to carry momentum. So there if Bumrah comes in his A game, I don’t think Fakhar stands a chance,” he said.
Zaman played a match-winning knock against India in the 2017 Champions Trophy final. However, he got a lifeline off Bumrah’s delivery, as the bowler had overstepped, and that proved very costly for India.
Irfan also said that if Zaman survives Bumrah’s spell, it will be an interesting battle between Kuldeep Yadav and Zaman. Kuldeep made a grand comeback to the Indian T20I side in the last game against the UAE, finishing with 4/7 in his 2.1 overs at an economy rate of 3.20.
“But if he can remove that spell, I would love to see that contest between Fakhar Zaman and Kuldeep Yadav,” Irfan added.
