Pakistan’s white-ball head coach Mike Hesson expressed his disappointment over India’s refusal to take part in the customary handshake after the match, calling it a ‘disappointing’ end to the game.

In a one-sided encounter, India romped past Pakistan to win their second game of the Asia Cup 2025 by seven wickets. It was a clinical performance from the Indian team. However, more than the sounds of victory, it is the aftermath of the game that is making headlines. As soon as the match ended, the Indian players shook hands with each other and went straight to the dugout. While the Pakistan players stood outside their dressing room, the Indian team closed the doors, sending a silent message to the opposition.

“Obviously, we were ready to shake hands at the end of the game,” Hesson said at the press conference. “We were disappointed that our opposition didn’t do that. We went over there to shake hands, but they were already heading to the dressing room.”

After Pakistan’s heavy defeat, Hesson was not satisfied with his team’s performance.

“It was a disappointing way for the game to end. We were not satisfied with how we played, but we were certainly willing to go and shake hands,” he added.

Hesson also explained Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha’s absence from the post-match presentation, linking it to the incident.

“I think it was just a flow-on effect. We were keen to engage and shake hands at the end of the match — that didn’t happen, and that was pretty much the end of it,” he explained.
