Pakistan T20I skipper Salman Ali Agha asserted that his team is prepared for any challenge after winning their final Group A fixture of the Asia Cup 2025 against the UAE.
With the 47-run win in Dubai, Pakistan became the second team to qualify for the Super 4s after India. The Men in Green will be in action on eptember, when they take on arch-rivals India.
Ahead of the high-octane match, Salman has instilled confidence in his team, saying they are capable of performing well against any opposition.
“We are ready for any challenge. If we play good cricket, we can be good against any side,” said Salman after the match against the UAE.
Pakistan’s batting has yet to click in the tournament. After posting 160 in their opening game against Oman, the former Asia Cup winners haven’t managed a total of over 150 in their past two matches.
Against India, they could only score 127, while in their last game against the UAE, they posted 146 after batting first.
“We haven’t batted to our best yet,” Salman emphasised. “If we had batted well, we would have ended up with 170–180.”
Shaheen Shah Afridi won the Player of the Match award for his all-round heroics against the UAE. With the bat, he scored a quickfire 29, and with the ball, he took two wickets to cap off a brilliant day. Abrar Ahmed also took two wickets, dismissing both key players — UAE captain Muhammad Waseem and power-hitter Asif Khan. Salman was full of praise for both Shaheen and Abrar.
“Shaheen is a match-winner. His batting has improved. Abrar has been outstanding. He is someone who is bringing us back into games,” he said.
