Former India all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin will represent Team India at the Hong Kong Sixes 2025, a three-day tournament set to take place from 7 to 9 November in Hong Kong. This will be Ashwin’s first tournament since announcing his retirement from international cricket.

The 39-year-old is exploring opportunities to play in various leagues around the world. Reportedly, Ashwin has received an offer from Cricket Australia to play in the Big Bash League later this year. He could also feature in the SA20, which begins later this year. His former teammate Dinesh Karthik has previously played in the South African-based T20 league.

In the Hong Kong Sixes tournament, each team consists of six players, with each side batting for six overs of six balls. The final is played with six overs of eight balls each. Matches are short and high-scoring, designed for aggressive batting and quick wickets, making the format ideal for fans of fast-paced cricket.

In such a rapid format, Ashwin’s variations and tactical acumen could pose a challenge to batters. His experience and ability to perform in high-pressure situations will be crucial in this tournament.

Ashwin’s career reflects his quality and consistency. In Test cricket, he has taken 537 wickets and scored over 3,500 runs, establishing himself as one of the finest all-rounders of his generation. In One-Day Internationals, he claimed 156 wickets in 116 matches, and in T20 Internationals, he took 72 wickets in 65 matches.

India last won the Hong Kong Sixes in 2005, and with Ashwin’s inclusion, they will be hopeful of securing another title.
