Zimbabwe will host the United Arab Emirates women’s cricket team for six white-ball matches in Bulawayo, starting on 26 September. The tour will begin with a warm-up match on 24 September against a Zimbabwe ‘A’ side at Bulawayo Athletic Club. After that, both teams will play four ODIs and two T20Is at Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo.

Zimbabwe Women’s head coach Walter Chawaguta sees this home series as an important step towards next year’s global stage.

“The UAE series is very important to us and fits perfectly into our plans as we prepare for the Global Qualifier early next year,” he said.

The qualifier he referred to is the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier 2026, which will take place in Nepal. Zimbabwe have already secured their place after winning the Africa Qualifier in Namibia earlier this month.

Chawaguta explained that these matches will help the team build rhythm and assess the form of players returning from injury.

“It gives us the momentum we need as a team and, at the same time, it also gives us an opportunity to look at some of the players who have been out due to injury and are now making a comeback,” he added.

He also praised both the timing of the series and the strength of the UAE women’s team.

“The timing is also good because it allows us enough space after the series to regroup and address any issues that may have come up. UAE are a good side, with strong batters and bowlers, and they will challenge us as we get ready for the Qualifier.”
