India’s T20 World Cup-winning captain Rohit Sharma turned mentor for a day as he interacted with the under-19 team at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru on September 20, 2025. Rohit shared his experiences with the young Indian stars, including Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Ayush Mhatre.
Former India batter VVS Laxman, who heads the COE, expressed gratitude in a post on X:
“Thank you @ImRo45 for inspiring the Under-19 boys. Your words reminded them that while talent can take you far, it is belief and hard work that take you further. You showed them that cricket is not only about runs and wickets but also about character, resilience and the courage to chase dreams without fear. May your words guide them to success on and off the field.”
Mhatre also received a bat from Rohit as a gift. Just a few days ago, Rohit was spotted practicing with Rishabh Pant and Sarfaraz Khan ahead of the upcoming Australia tour.
Rohit had announced his retirement from T20I cricket after leading India to victory in the 2024 T20 World Cup final. Earlier this year, during the IPL, he also said goodbye to Test cricket. His most recent appearance came in IPL 2025, where he scored 418 runs in 15 matches at an average of 29.86 and a strike rate of 149.29, including four fifties with a highest score of 81.
His next big assignment will be the three-match ODI series in Australia, and fans are eagerly waiting to see him back in action.
