
Hardik Pandya is now the highest wicket-taker for India in Asia Cup matches. He achieved this record during the Super Four match against Pakistan in Dubai on Sunday. The all-rounder also climbed to second place on India’s all-time T20I wicket-takers’ list with this performance.
The 31–year-old struck early in the match. In the third over, he dismissed Pakistan opener FakharZaman, who edged the ball to wicketkeeper Sanju Samson after he scored 15 runs from nine balls. That wicket gave Hardik his 14th wicket in Asia Cup T20Is in his 12th match, which brokeBhuvneshwar Kumar’s previous record of 13 wickets from six games. Hardik now shares his overall tournament record with Afghanistan’s captain Rashid Khan and Sri Lanka’s WaninduHasaranga, who also have 14 wickets each.
Hardik now has 15 wickets against Pakistan, which is the most by any Indian in T20I matches between matches of these two countries.
Hardik now has 97 T20I wickets, leaving behind Yuzvendra Chahal tally of 96. Arshdeep Singh is on top with 100 wickets, which he reached in the previous game against Oman on September 19.
Other then Hardik, Shivam Dube got two crucial wickets and Kuldeep Yadav managed to get onewhich stopped Pakistan at 171 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 20 overs.
