Pakistan white-ball coach Mike Hesson has praised the team’s ‘never give up’ approach ahead of the Asia Cup 2025 final against India on Sunday, 28 September, to be played at the Dubai International Stadium.
Hesson has motivated his team by saying that, although they have experienced ups and downs throughout the tournament, they will fight till the end.
“Proud of the spirit this team has shown in the lead-up to and during the Asia Cup. We may not have been perfect, but I can assure you we never give up,” Hesson posted on X.
It will be a historic final, as the two giants of Asian cricket will face each other in the Asia Cup final for the first time in 41 years. Hesson is hopeful of a thrilling contest between the two sides.
“It’s been 41 years coming for a Pakistan v India Asia Cup final. Tonight’s game should be a cracker,” he added.
The road to the final for Pakistan has not been as smooth as India’s. Pakistan lost their group-stage match against India but went on to defeat two relatively weaker sides — Oman and UAE — to qualify for the next stage. They bounced back strongly in the Super Four, beating Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to secure a place in the final, although they suffered another defeat to India in this stage.
In contrast, India have reached the final unbeaten. Only their last match against Sri Lanka was closely contested, going to a Super Over, but India emerged victorious.
