Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal will play for Northamptonshire in 2026. He will join the team for the second half of the season. This will be his third stint with the club. Chahal will play in the County Championship and the Metro Bank One-Day Cup. There will be an additional role this time. He will guide the team’s young spinners.

Head coach Darren Lehmann welcomed him and said Chahal will be a vital part of the side. Yuzi is a magnificent asset to this squad. His record across his career speaks for itself and he brings so much class and experience to the group. I loved working with him this year and am excited to go again in 2026,” Lehmann said.

Chahal has taken 44 firstclass wickets and seven List A wickets during his time at the club. Lehmann said that the Indian’s presence will be useful especiallyfor Northamptonshire’s younger players.

For young spinners in the group like Nirvan Ramesh and Stuart van der Merwe, having Yuzi around to guide them will be a huge plus for their game,” Lehmann added.

Northamptonshire are making several new signings for the 2026 season. Australian fast bowler Harry Conway, who took 20 wickets in four Championship games in 2025, will return for the start of the new season. The club has also signed batter Louis Kimber from Leicestershire on a two-year deal. With these players, Northamptonshire hope to perform strongly in all formats in the 2026 season.
