Zimbabwe batter Brian Bennett became the first player in history to hit six boundaries in an over in T20 internationals. He achieved the feat while playing against Kenya in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Regional Final.

Bennett hit six fours in six consecutive balls in the fourth over of the innings, bowled by Lucas Ndandason. The 21-year-old batter played a brilliant innings and was instrumental in his team’s victory by seven wickets with five overs to spare against Kenya, which helped them to qualify for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 to be held in India and Sri Lanka.

Kenya won the toss and elected to bat first. However, their openers failed to give them a good start. Rakep Patel played a good innings that provided the innings’ much-needed stability. Rakep scored 65 off 47 balls. His innings included eight fours. Except for him, none of the Kenyan batters could make any significant contributions. For Zimbabwe, Blessing Muzarabani took 2/19 in his four overs.

Chasing a small target of 123, Bennett put on a 76-run stand off just 38 balls with Tadiwanashe Marumani that almost sealed the match for Zimbabwe. Bennett played a match-winning knock of 51 off 25 balls, including eight fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 204.00. Bennett was adjudged the Player of the Match. Zimbabwe will play Namibia in the final.
