The India-Pakistan Women’s World Cup 2025 match at Colombo’s R. Premadasa Stadium had an unusual pause on Sunday. Players had to leave the field because of a swarm of bugs.

The game stopped for 15 minutes, and it made everyone laugh. Pakistan captain Fatima Sana tried to fight the bugs and manage the situation by herself, which added a funny moment in a highpressure match.

Talking about the delay, former Pakistancricketer turned commentator Sana Mir said, “I have no idea,” before Fatima sprayed pest control around the field. The commentators also joked, “On that pest control note, we take a break.”

The incident happened during the 28th over of India’s innings. Nashra Sandhu was first seen waving her towel to move the bugs. Pakistani players told the umpire about the problem. At first, commentators thought it was an injury because a substitute player came in the field with a spray. Fatima Sana took the spray and she tried to get rid of the insects, but they did not go away.

After six overs, players were sent off the fieldand ground staff sprayed pest control spray in the ground properly. Then the match continued without losing overs.

Pakistan had won the toss and opted to bowl first. India scored 247in their 50 overs. Harleen Deol was the highest scorer with 46 runs. For Pakistan Diana Baig was the key bowler as she took four crucial wickets.
