India began their preparation for the South Africa clash in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup on Tuesday in Vizag. Notably, skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemimah Rodrigues were absent from the session. All eyes were on Renuka Singh Thakur and Amanjot Kaur’s fitness. Both were seen bowling and looked fit enough for the upcoming game.
However, the main highlight of the session was Richa Ghosh’s special wicketkeeping drills. Richa had a forgettable outing against Pakistan behind the stumps, dropping four chances and leaving fans frustrated. But today, she seemed focused and determined. She had a long chat with one of the support staff and worked hard — practicing catches from different directions and angles. After the intense drills, she joined Harleen Deol for a batting session.
Initially, Kranti Gaud did not bowl. She was seen stretching and later taking catches near the boundary rope. Soon after, the Player of the Match from the Pakistan game began bowling to Richa and Harleen in rotation.

Hometown girl N Shree Charani was spotted training in a side net. Among the spinners, Deepti Sharma, Radha Yadav, and Sneh Rana took turns to bowl to Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal.
Mandhana, who has struggled so far in the tournament, was seen having an animated chat with head coach Amol Muzumdar.
A light moment followed when Renuka walked in with a bat. She didn’t bat but was seen clicking photos and sharing a laugh with Deepti. Uma Chetry also had some catching drills.
Towards the end of the session, all-rounders Kranti, Radha, and Arundhati had their batting sessions, while both openers — Smriti and Pratika — returned for another round of throwdowns, focusing on big shots.
