Aman Sehrawat, who won the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics last year, has been handed a one-year ban by the Wrestling Federation of India, a source confirmed to RevSportz. The suspension is effective from September 23, 2025. The resultant outcome is that he won’t be involved in any wrestling events or to be specific wrestling-related activities during the aforementioned timeframe.

Aman’s actions came under scrutiny during the World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb in September. Aman failed to meet the weight parameter in the freestyle men’s 57 kg category before his opening round versus Vladimir Erogov of North Macedonia. Subsequently, the United World Wrestling, the parent body, disqualified him.

This ban comes as a major blow to Aman’s aspirations to win more medals for the country. To illustrate the point further, the upcoming Asian Games will be held from September 19 to October 04 next year. However, as Aman’s ban extends from September 23, 2025 to September 22, 2026, he is all set to miss the trials. And that means he won’t be able to compete in the Asian Games to be hosted by Japan.

Aman won India’s only bronze medal in the field of wrestling during the Paris Olympics. In the men’s 57 kg category, he triumphed against   Vladimir Egorov and Zelimkhan Abakarov through technical superiority, eventually losing to Rei Higuchi in the semifinal. He has also been a junior world champion twice.
