Australia’s young batting all-rounder Cooper Connolly is excited to face Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the upcoming limited-overs rubbers  to be played at home. India will take on Australia in three ODIs and five T20Is from October 19 to November 08.

“It’s exciting, they’re two world-class players. I’ve played them both before and there’s a bit of aura about them,” Connolly told The West Australia. “You just think, ‘these guys have played a lot of cricket,’ and they have that strut about them.

“They own this game, pretty much. I’ve obviously looked up to Virat. He’s a nice player, and it’d be an honour to share the field one last time with him,” he added.

Both Kohli and Rohit have retired from Test cricket and T20Is, but they are available for selection when it comes to the 50-over format. Kohli has aggregated 14181 runs from 302 ODI matches at an average of 57.88 and a strike rate of 93.34, which includes 51 centuries and 74 fifties. Former captain Rohit has scored 11168 runs from 273 ODI matches at an average of 48.76 and a strike rate of 92.80, with 32 centuries and 58 half-centuries.

Incidentally, there is a huge demand for tickets ahead of the limited-overs games between the two sides. In fact, Cricket Australia said in a statement that all tickets for the MCG T20I between the two sides were sold out three weeks ago.

“It’s exciting, there will be a lot of fans here to watch those two go about it pretty much, and we’re excited to play some good cricket,” he noted.
