
India captain Harmanpreet Kaur showed her fiery side during the Women’s World Cup 2025 match against Australia in Visakhapatnam. A tense moment unfolded between Harmanpreet and Harleen Deol. This happened due to amiscommunication between the two, which couldhave resulted in a costly run out.
The incident took place in the 35th over of India’s innings, when Megan Schutt bowled a slower delivery. Harmanpreet mistimed her shot towards the cover fielder and called for a quick single. But Harleen hesitated mid-pitch, leaving Harmanpreetstuck halfway. The captain had to dive full length to reach her end as the ball was sent back quicklyto wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy. Harmanpreet got furious after the close call, and scolded Harleen on the field. Harleen silently looked down, acceptingthe mix-up was her fault.
Harmanpreet immediately turned her aggression into action as she smashed boundaries off the next two balls. She ended the over by tapping Harleen on the back, showing her that the matter was over.
Despite all that, India continued their inningsstrongly. Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal had given India a strong start with a 155–run opening stand. Mandhana scored 80 and she became the first woman to reach 1,000 ODI runs in a calendar year. Rawal made 75. India finished at 330. Annabel Sutherland’s five-wicket haul prevented India getting a bigger total.
