Australia captain Mitchell Marsh believes that India and Australia share a great rivalry on the cricket field.
Ahead of the high-profile Ashes series against England, Australia will host India for five T20Is and three ODIs.
Marsh stated that his team is playing against India at the right time, with the upcoming Ashes in mind.
“We’ll have all the guys building towards the Ashes, but everyone loves playing against India,” he told foxsports.com.au. “We’ve got a great rivalry and great respect for them as a team. I think it’s literally perfect timing to be playing against India in the lead-up to an Ashes series. It’s going to be massive.”
India will tour Australia to play a three-match ODI series and a five-match T20I series. There is a lot of hype around this series, as it will mark the comeback of two Indian stalwarts, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, to international cricket for the first time since the Champions Trophy. The ODI series starts on October 19 in Perth.
India have already announced their squad, and they have rested their premier pacer, Jasprit Bumrah, for the ODIs.
Australia also have a strong squad that includes Marsh, Travis Head, and Josh Inglis in the batting line-up. Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Adam Zampa form a formidable bowling attack to challenge the Indian batters.
Pat Cummins will miss the series as he is recovering from an injury. He is even doubtful for the beginning of the Ashes series, which starts on November 21 in Perth.
