Nepal and Oman Qualify for 2026 T20 World Cup

Nepal and Oman have confirmed their qualification for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after strong performances in the Asia/East Asia-Pacific Qualifier in Oman. Both teams secured their spots on Wednesday by guaranteeing a top-three finish in the Super Six stage. The 2026 tournament will be held in India and Sri Lanka.

Both teams have remained unbeaten so far in the qualifiers. They currently occupy the top two positions on the points table, separated only by net run rate. Nepal sit in first place with a net run rate of 0.745, while Oman have a net run rate of 0.281.

Nepal’s journey to qualification was filled with close finishes. They started the Super Six with two points and went on to win two thrilling final-over matches against the United Arab Emirates and Qatar. These victories showcased Nepal’s fighting spirit and composure under pressure.

Hosts Oman also continued their impressive form, taking two points into the Super Six and then sealing victories over Qatar and the UAE to confirm their qualification.

Currently, the UAE stand in third place after defeating Samoa. They will now face Japan in a must-win match to claim the final qualification spot. Japan, Qatar, and Samoa still have slim chances of qualifying, but they will also need other results to go in their favour.
