Australia have included legspinner J Tanveer Sangha in their squad for the T20I matches against India in place of Adam Zampa, who in turn will miss the first few matches due to personal reasons.

Zampa and his wife Harriet are expecting their second child. The spinner missed the first ODI of the three-match series against India on October 19, in Perth. He returned in Adelaide for the second match and was named the Player of the Match for his 4/60. The impact of Zampa not playing will be felt as he is the highest wicket taker for Australia in T20Is.

Sangha made his debut for Australia on August 30, 2023 against South Africa in Durban, in a T20I match, where he took the best figures of his international career – 4/31. Overall, he has played seven T20I matches, taking 10 wickets. The 23-year-old plays for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Australia also has left-arm spinner Matt Kuhnemann in their squad. Many players will not feature in the whole series of five matches keeping the upcoming Ashes series in mind.

Experienced pacer Josh Hazlewood will be given rest after the first two matches in Canberra and Sydney. Sean Abbott will be available till the third match in Hobart.

Pacer, Mahli Beardman will join the squad after the second T20I. He represents Western Australia and Perth Scorchers but has not played a first-class match yet.
