Ahead of India’s crucial World Cup semifinal clash against Australia, Shafali Verma has come in as an injury replacement for Pratika Rawal. Meanwhile, as per sources to Revsportz, the injured Rawal could be out of action for 4 to 6 months.

This replacement was approved by the Event Technical Committee of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. According to the rules, if a player has to be replaced, then an approval is needed from the Event Technical Committee.

Unfortunately, in India’s last game of the league phase, against Bangladesh, Rawal picked up an injury in her right ankle while trying to save a boundary. Rawal, the opener, hit a fantastic century against New Zealand and was instrumental in India’s victory. She is also the second-highest run-getter in the ongoing World Cup.

Verma, who is 21 years old, is also an opener. Verma made her ODI debut for India on June 27, 2021, against England, in Bristol. Overall, she has played 29 ODIs, scoring 644 runs at an average of 23.00. She has amassed four fifties in ODIs and has a highest score of 71 not out. Verma is also the top-run getter in the ongoing Sr. Women’s T20 League.
