Former England captain Nasser Hussain is full of praise for the ex Indian captain Rohit Sharma for attaining No. 1 position in the ICC ODI Batter’s Rankings. Hussain told ICC that he was surprised after knowing that he didn’t top the batter’s chart in the ODIs before keeping in mind his illustrious career.

“I can’t believe it, to be honest. I heard he [Rohit Sharma] went to number one, and my first question was-when has he been at number one before? And someone said it’s the first time. I mean, he’s been around forever; he’s got three double hundreds in ODI cricket. There must have been some good white-ball players, one-day players in the last 15 years. Fabulous white-ball cricketer, fabulous player, and well done to him. He deserves to be number one in the world.”

Rohit had a fantastic-run in the recently-completed ODI series against Australia that helped him reach the summit of the rankings. He became the highest scorer of the series scoring 202 runs at an average of 10, that included a fifty and a century in three matches.

The 38-year-old is the only player in the history of ODI cricket to get three double hundreds. Overall, in his 18-year-old career, the Mumbai batter has played 276 ODIs, scoring 11370 runs at an average of 49.22 with a best score of 264. His tally includes 33 hundreds and 59 fifties.
