South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has leapfrogged Smriti Mandhana to become the new No. 1 in the ICC ODI batting rankings. Wolvaardt has 814 rating points while Mandhana has three points less than her.

Wolvaardt’s ascent to the top is based on her remarkable performance in the just concluded Women’s ODI World Cup, where she compiled 571 runs at an average of 71.37 and topped the batting charts.

Wolvaardt hit a fabulous 169 off 143 balls against England in the semi-final to lead her team to victory, and in the final versus India she was the lone warrior for her side, scoring a hundred. Meanwhile, Jemimah Rodrigues has jumped nine places in the rankings and currently slots in at No. 10 with 658 points. In the semifinal of the World Cup against Australia, she cracked a match-winning hundred. India’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur is at the 14th position with 634 ratings.

Deepti Sharma, who was adjudged the Player of the Tournament, is now at the fourth spot in the all-rounders’ rankings with 392 points.

In the bowling rankings, England’s Sophie Ecclestone leads the chart with 747 rating points followed by South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp with 712. Deepti is at the fifth spot with 657 points while Shree Charani is at the 23rd position with a rating of 511, jumping seven places.
