Rishabh Pant and Akash Deep have been included in the 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against South Africa, announced by the BCCI on Wednesday.

Both Pant and Akash missed the last home series as they were recovering from their respective injuries. The former replaces N Jagadeesan, while the latter comes in for Prasidh Krishna, who has been named in the India A squad. These are the only two changes from the squad that played the two-match series against the West Indies.

Pant, who was out of the game after suffering a foot injury in England, proved his fitness by playing for India A in the recently concluded South Africa A game in Bengaluru.

Akash played three first-class matches — two for Bengal and one for the Rest of India. His Bengal teammate Mohammed Shami was once again ignored, as was Sarfaraz Khan.

The Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee has also picked India A squad for the three-match one-day series against South Africa A to be held in Rajkot. Tilak Varma has been named captain, while Ruturaj Gaikwad is his deputy. The most notable inclusion is that of Ishan Kishan.
