The Jai Balaji Group Kolkata Marathon celebrated its 10th anniversary at the Hyatt Regency hotel in Kolkata on November 9, 2025, and RevSportz was proud to be a part of this momentous occasion. Sports has always been known to bind people together. It transcends boundaries of caste, creed and religion and helps in bringing people together from all walks of life. The Kolkata Marathon is no exception to this, and it aims to promote fitness, unity, and the spirit of the city.

This year’s milestone celebration was further enhanced by the launch of a commemorative book titled Feats of Joy, which chronicles the inspiring journey of several athletes and para-athletes from India – stories of resilience, grit, determination, and triumph. The event was graced by various dignitaries and prominent athletes, and audience got to listen to their inspiring stories which acted as a great source of motivation. Their tales of struggle, setbacks, and ultimately rising from the ashes resonated deeply with everyone present, reminding the audience that perseverance and passion lie at the heart of every sporting journey.

Among the attendees were celebrated sports figures like notable footballer Mehtab Hossain, Olympic shooter Joydeep Karmakar, champion archer Dola Banerjee and the legendary long jumper, Anju Bobby George, whose remarkable achievements epitomise immense tenacity and willpower.

Another highlight of the evening was the introduction of the Marathon’s official theme song, “Cholo Dourai”, composed and performed by Koustav Banerjee. He expressed it very beautifully when he said, “Marathon and life are no different at all – we all keep running, even in life, no matter the hurdles and we never give up.” The song perfectly captured that emotion, and with its motivational lyrics and upbeat rhythm, “Cholo Dourai” will not only inspire the participants gearing up for the run but also strike a chord with each person – reminding them of the relentless drive that keeps us going and defines both the marathon and life itself.

The event concluded on a hopeful and positive note as the organisers shared their vision for the way forward. They hinted that while it was still too early to decide, future editions may include additional elements to elevate the experience. They added that someday they would try to take this iconic event to the international level. For them, the only return on investment is the participation of Kolkata, in huge numbers, which reflects the selfless motive behind the initiative. The evening thus ended on a resounding note of optimism and promise, celebrating not just 10 glorious years, but the enduring spirit of unity which continues to define the City of Joy.
