India’s semi-final star from the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, Jemimah Rodrigues, said her match-winning knock came from focusing on the team’s victory rather than chasing personal milestones.

In an interview with India Today, Jemimah explained her mindset during the high-pressure game: “I knew it was a knockout game and I had nothing to lose — I just wanted to give my all and help India win. That day wasn’t about proving a point or making a statement; it was about the team. When I got my fifty and hundred, I didn’t celebrate because the job wasn’t done. At one point, I asked myself, ‘What will make you happier — a hundred and a loss, or reaching the final?’ The answer was clear. It was never about me. It was about India winning.”

Chasing a challenging 339 against Australia, Jemimah walked in early after Shafali Verma’s dismissal and built a crucial 167-run partnership with Harmanpreet Kaur. Her composed approach steadied India’s chase as she remained unbeaten, guiding the team to victory. Jemimah finished with unbeaten 127 off 134 balls, hitting 14 fours in one of India’s most memorable World Cup innings.

Reflecting on her mindset, she added: “I just felt like something divine had come upon me at that moment. Even now, I wonder how I stayed so calm — especially after being dropped two games before and suddenly playing a World Cup semi-final at home against Australia. The pressure and expectations were huge, but I truly felt Jesus’ hand upon me, giving me grace to go through it.”

Jemimah is currently busy playing for Brisbane Heat in the ongoing WBBL, having scored only 17 runs in two matches so far.
