Agra witnessed massive celebrations on Thursday, November 13, 2025, as thousands of fans lined the streets to welcome India Women’s team all-rounder Deepti Sharma, who returned home after being adjudged Player of the Tournament in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. The city hosted a grand road show where crowds gathered in huge numbers, cheering, waving flags, and celebrating one of India’s most admired cricketers.

Deepti, visibly emotional, thanked her hometown for its constant support. “Coming back to Agra feels like coming back to the people who shaped my journey. This honour belongs to the city as much as it belongs to me. The love and energy here push me to keep raising the bar for India,” she said at the event.

Her reception was a reflection of her outstanding World Cup campaign, where the 28-year-old delivered one of the most complete all-round performances in tournament history. Deepti played a decisive role in India’s win in the final, scoring a vital 58 and picking up a five-wicket haul, becoming the first Indian—across men’s and women’s cricket—to score a fifty and claim five wickets in a World Cup knockout match.

Her consistency throughout the tournament was unmatched. Deepti finished as the highest wicket-taker with 22 wickets in nine matches, troubling batters with her accuracy, flight, and discipline. With the bat, she added significant value in the middle order, scoring 215 runs at an average of 30.71, including three crucial fifties that helped India in pressure situations.
