The fourth season of the WPL is reportedly set to be held from January 7 to February 3. However, there is no formal confirmation about the tournament window yet.
The BCCI has shortlisted Mumbai and Baroda as the host cities. DY Patil Stadium, which recently hosted the final of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 that India won, is most likely to host the opening match of the season. The Navi Mumbai venue is expected to host one of the two legs of the WPL in January 2026.
The second half of the tournament is expected to take place at Baroda’s Kotambi Stadium. India’s men’s team will play an ODI against New Zealand in the city on January 11, and the Baroda leg of the WPL will begin after that, from January 16. The grand final is likely to be played at the Kotambi Stadium.
The discussions regarding the venues are still informal, and the BCCI has not yet officially notified the franchises. All teams are likely to be informed during the WPL auction in New Delhi on November 27.
Unlike last season, which was held between February and March, the upcoming WPL is expected to be played in the January window — a move Cricbuzz previously reported — due to several reasons.
One of the main factors is the men’s T20I World Cup, which will take place in February. Also, cricket boards across the world have agreed that January could be the most suitable slot for the WPL, helping avoid clashes with other franchise leagues and the ICC Future Tour Programme (FTP).
