Bangladesh’s women’s cricket team will not be travelling to India in December as planned. The white-ball tour, which included three ODIs and three T20Is, has now been postponed once again.
A BCB spokesperson confirmed to ESPNcricinfo on Tuesday that the board has received a formal letter from the BCCI stating that the Bangladesh tour of India will be rescheduled to a later date.
The decision came as a surprise, as these would be India’s final matches before the next Women’s Premier League (WPL). The series was also intended to initiate a new cycle of the Women’s ODI Championship for both teams.
The BCCI did not specify a reason for this decision, but according to reports, rising political tensions between India and Bangladesh played a major role. This is not the first time the bilateral tour between the two teams has been rescheduled. Earlier this year, the India men’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh was also postponed from August 2025 to September 2026.
At that time, the BCCI explained the decision not to travel to Bangladesh by stating, “This decision has been reached following discussions between the two boards, taking into account the international cricketing commitments and scheduling convenience of both teams. The BCB looks forward to welcoming India in September 2026 for this eagerly anticipated series. Revised dates and fixtures for the tour will be announced in due course.”
