Bangladesh Women’s team skipper Nigar Sultana Joty took a subtle dig at Harmanpreet Kaur while responding to her teammate Jahanara Alam’s accusations of assaulting and humiliating junior players in the team.
“Why would I hit anyone? I mean, why would I strike the stumps with my bat? Am I Harmanpreet, that I would go around hitting the stumps like that? Why would I do it? In my personal space, if I’m cooking or something, I might bang my bat around or hit my helmet—that’s my own business,” Joty said in an interview with Daily Cricket.
Earlier this year, Jahanara made sensational allegations against Joty in an interview with the newspaper Kaler Kantho, claiming that the veteran pacer misbehaved with her junior teammates and slapped them during the 2025 Women’s World Cup, which took place in India and Sri Lanka.
“But why would I do something like that to someone else? Why would I get physical just because someone says so? You can ask the other players or anyone else whether I’ve ever done anything like that,” she added.
Jahanara’s claims compelled the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to issue a statement defending Sultana, stating that the board strongly refutes the allegations, which it described as ill-intentioned, and misleading. also referred to Jahanara, who last played for Bangladesh last year, as an individual with involvement or relevance in the plans of Bangladesh cricket.
Living in Australia, Jahanara made a startling revelation by accusing the former BCB selector and manager of sexual harassment. To investigate the matter, the BCB formed a three-member committee earlier this month.
