Zimbabwe crushed Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the second match of the ongoing Pakistan T20I tri-series at Rawalpindi, thanks to captain Sikandar Raza’s all-round brilliance.

Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to field first. Brian Bennett and Raza were the two batters who took Zimbabwe to 162/8 in 20 overs. They added 61 runs off 43 balls for the third wicket. Bennett missed his half-century by just one run. His innings included five fours and a six. Raza scored 47 off 32 balls, with three fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 146.88. For Sri Lanka, Wanindu Hasaranga took three wickets, while Eshan Malinga picked up 2/27.

In reply, Sri Lanka lost both openers Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis in the first two overs. Except for Dasun Shanaka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa, none of the other batters could even reach double figures. Zimbabwe bowlers kept tight pressure throughout the innings, and Sri Lanka kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Brad Evans bowled an outstanding spell of 3/9 in his four overs at an economy rate of 2.20.

Richard Ngarava took two wickets, while Raza picked up one. In the end, Sri Lanka were bundled out for just 95 runs. Raza was named Player of the Match. With this win, Zimbabwe now go at the top of the points table, with two points in two games, with a solid net run rate of +1.471.
