New Zealand defeated the West Indies by four wickets, with 117 balls to spare, in the final ODI of the three-match series at Seddon Park in Hamilton. Matt Henry and Mark Chapman were the heroes for New Zealand, helping the hosts to complete a 3–0 clean sweep of the series.

The Men in Maroon won the toss and elected to bat first. Henry struck twice, in the fourth over and with the last ball of the fifth, and from there the visitors never recovered. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals, with none of the partnerships even reaching 40. Except for Roston Chase, none of the other batters looked able to stay at the crease. Chase was the top scorer with 38. Henry took four wickets, while Jacob Duffy and captain Mitchell Santner finished with two wickets each. Eventually, the West Indies were bundled out for 161 in 36.2 overs.

In reply, New Zealand also had a poor start, losing their top three within the 11th over, with Matthew Forde taking two wickets in his opening spell. Chapman brought his team back into the game by building two important partnerships to guide New Zealand to victory. With Tom Latham he added 38 runs, followed by a 75-run stand with Michael Bracewell which all but sealed the match for the Kiwis. Chapman scored 64 off 63 balls, including eight fours and two sixes. Bracewell remained unbeaten on 40 off 31 balls, including six fours, at a strike rate of 129.03. Henry was adjudged Player of the Match, while Kyle Jamieson was awarded Player of the Series.
