Australia pacer Mitchell Starc shattered multiple records after completing his ten-wicket haul on day two of the first Ashes Test at the Optus Stadium in Perth.

Having taken seven wickets in the first innings yesterday, Starc claimed three more in the first session to complete his third ten-wicket haul.

With match figures of 10/113, Starc became the first Australian seamer to take a ten-wicket haul in an Ashes Test since Craig McDermott’s 11/157 in 1990–91. Coincidentally, that feat was also achieved in Perth.

After Australia were bowled out earlier in the day for 132, England came out to bat, and Starc removed Zak Crawley for the second time in the series in his first over. The veteran seamer took two more wickets in Joe Root and Ben Stokes, both of whom had also fallen to him in the first innings. In the 23 Tests so far against England, Starc has taken 107 wickets at an average of 25.86.

On home turf, he has now taken exactly 50 wickets against England from 10 matches, which includes a couple of five-wicket hauls. His three-for helped Australia bundle England out for 164.

Chasing 205 in the fourth innings, Australia wrapped up the match early, winning the first Test by eight wickets. Travis Head led the run-chase with a blistering 83-ball 123, while Marnus Labuschagne played second fiddle with a 51-run knock.
