BAN vs IRE: Saifuddin and Mahidul Added to Bangladesh Squad for Ireland T20Is

Bangladesh have made two major changes to their squad for the first two T20Is against Ireland. Mohammad Saifuddin and Mahidul Islam Ankon will replace Taskin Ahmed and Shamim Hossain in the 15-man squad.

Saifuddin is returning after playing in a T20I series against Afghanistan in Sharjah, where Bangladesh won 3–0. Mahidul, on the other hand, will make his T20I debut. So far, he has played only one Test and three ODIs, and this will be a golden opportunity for him to showcase his talent in the T20 format.

Taskin is currently playing in the T10 League in Abu Dhabi. Chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain explained the reason for leaving Taskin and Shamim out of the squad: “Taskin has an NOC, so he is not available to us currently. We know that he will play for Bangladesh whenever we ask him to, but we are well aware of the plans.”

“We haven’t considered Shamim Hossain for the first two T20Is. We have picked Mahidul Islam so that we can try someone in the top four,” he added.

The series will kick off on November 27 in Chattogram, followed by matches on November 29 and December 2.
