Pakistan defeated Zimbabwe by 69 runs in the fourth match of the ongoing T20I tri-series in Rawalpindi. Babar Azam and Usman Tariq were the key performers for Pakistan in this win as they sealed their place into the final.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. They lost their first wicket when Saim Ayub fell for 13. After that, Sahibzada Farhan and Babar added 103 runs off just 77 balls, giving the innings much-needed stability and laying the foundation for a big total. Both played superbly.
Babar scored 74 off 52 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 142.31, while Farhan made 63 off 41 balls with four fours and three sixes at a blistering strike rate of 153.66. For Zimbabwe, captain Sikandar Raza took two wickets along with one wicket each from Richard Ngarava and Brad Evans.
Chasing a target of 196, Zimbabwe lost their top three batters inside the powerplay. Tariq then took a hat-trick in the 10th over, which completely shifted the match in Pakistan’s favour. Except for Ryan Burl, none of the Zimbabwe batters made an impact.
Burl scored an unbeaten 67 off 49 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 136.73. Tariq finished with figures of 4/18 in his four overs at an economy rate of 4.50 and was named Player of the Match.
