Yash Dayal, the Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer, was on the receiving end as Rinku Singh smashed him for five sixes in the final over to lead Kolkata Knight Riders to a scarcely believable victory. Dayal conceded 69 runs in his four overs, and hasn’t featured again for Gujarat.
On Tuesday, April 25, Pandya gave an update on Dayal, and revealed that he had fallen ill after the match and lost 7-8kg. Hardik confirmed that Dayal would need time before he returned to the field.
Mohit Finds a Second Wind
“I can’t confirm that (on his chances of playing again this season),” said Pandya, speaking after his team’s emphatic win against the Mumbai Indians. “He fell ill and lost 7-8 kilos after that match. There was a spread of viral infection during that period, and also due to the pressure he had faced, his condition is presently not good enough to take the field. Someone’s loss is someone’s gain at the end of the day. It is going to take a long time before we see him on the field.”
Gavaskar advises Rohit to Take a Break
With his remarkable bowling skill, Mohit Sharma has successfully stepped into Dayal’s shoes and impressed everyone. Mohit has claimed six wickets in just four matches while maintaining a commendable economy rate of 6.15 runs per over. Mohit has also won the Man of the Match award twice in the ongoing season, further strengthening his position in the team.
