I did a piece yesterday reviewing 2025 for RevSportz. Overall, it has been a really strong year for us. Having said that, one of our readers asked why not do a piece on what RevSportz couldn’t achieve in 2025 and the areas we need to focus on in 2026. It is an excellent suggestion.
I keep telling people that sport has taught me how to lose, and every loss takes me closer to success. And RevSportz did have its share of disappointments in 2025.
Not launching a second conclave
For a while now, we have been working on trying to expand the Trailblazers footprint. We want to do smaller regional conclaves to understand the sports ecosystem in different states or regions. For example, North East Rising is a conclave waiting to happen. With so much talent in the region, a conclave is a real necessity.
Local stories, future stars, facilities and infrastructure, and how sport is now a career option—we know what we need to do. And yet, we weren’t able to pull this off in 2025. In 2026, we will surely attempt to launch a second conclave and make a difference to the ecosystem.
Completion of our studio
The idea was to move to a fully operational studio by March 2026. We had planned to launch it during the Trailblazers conclave. While we will go ahead with a soft launch, the fully operational studio will come into existence in mid-2026. The delay wasn’t in our hands, and we will indeed try to push things along.
Scaling up the women’s football tournament
The standard of play in this year’s women’s football tournament, which became an interstate affair, was really strong. And yet, we weren’t able to publicise it enough. With cricket going on in the country, most of our reporters were travelling, and when I look back, we should have done better.
A few partnerships, like the one with Ten X U, happened really last minute, and we could have indeed scaled things up. This will be done in 2026.
Picking up a second sport
We have asked all our reporters to pick up a second sport. We need more from each one, and only then can we realise our full potential. No one is just a cricket or football reporter. We are sports journalists, and you need to do Paralympic sport with equal verve. That’s when growth happens, and this will remain a stated aim in 2026.
Going beyond Boria
In 2026, I’d like to see many of my colleagues own their shows. This was a stated objective in 2025, and while we did come close, the truth is we need to go beyond me being integral to the programming. RevSportz is no longer about me; it is about us as a collective.
The more I am freed up from the day-to-day, the better it will be for us to scale up. I will travel less and focus more on the business in the months ahead.
If 2025 was yet another year of learning, 2026 will see us implement many of these lessons.
