India’s young batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi etched his name in history on the opening day of the 2025–26 Vijay Hazare Trophy. At just 14 years and 272 days old, the Bihar batter became the youngest player to score a century in men’s List A cricket.
Playing against Arunachal Pradesh in a Plate League match in Ranchi on December 24, Suryavanshi reached his maiden List A hundred in just 36 balls. It was only his seventh List A match, which made the achievement even more special. This was also his first century in senior one-day cricket outside the T20 format. He also recorded the fastest 150 in List A cricket, reaching the milestone in just 59 balls. In total, he scored 190 runs off 84 balls. His stunning knock included 16 boundaries and 15 sixes at a strike rate of 226.19.
Earlier this year, he impressed everyone during the Under-19 Asia Cup in the UAE with a brilliant knock of 171 runs. He missed Ambati Rayudu’s long-standing Indian youth ODI record by just six runs. He will also feature in India’s Under-19 World Cup campaign in Zimbabwe and Namibia in January–February 2026.
Suryavanshi has also smashed one of the fastest centuries by an Indian in men’s T20s. He became the youngest player to score a century in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with an unbeaten 108 off 61 balls. In the IPL, he was the star performer for Rajasthan Royals with a memorable 35-ball century, which was the fastest by an Indian.
