Ishan Kishan continued his red-hot form by creating history in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Karnataka in Ahmedabad. He became the second-fastest Indian to score a century in List A cricket.
Just a week after playing a match-winning knock in Jharkhand’s title-winning Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy campaign, Ishan smashed his ton in just 33 balls. He also became the fourth-fastest player to score a century in this format.
On the same day, Bihar’s Sakibul Gani also smashed a 32-ball century against Arunachal Pradesh and etched his name in history by becoming the fastest Indian to score a List A century. He now stands behind only Jake Fraser-McGurk (29 balls) and AB de Villiers (31 balls). Interestingly, the top three fastest List A centuries by Indians were all scored on the same day across two venues.
Ishan came in to bat at No. 6 in the 38th over and struck seven fours and 14 sixes at a strike rate of 320.51. His innings ended at 125 runs off just 39 balls. His explosive knock helped Jharkhand post a massive total of 412/9.
Ishan’s form has come at a crucial time, as he has earned a recall to India’s T20I squad for the New Zealand series and the upcoming T20 World Cup. He was the highest run-scorer of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, scoring 517 runs at an average of 57.44 in ten matches. He smashed 33 sixes in the tournament, which was the most by any batter.
