Sachin was in Yorkshire playing his first (and only) season of county cricket in 1992. He joined Yorkshire towards the end of April. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience for him. It was a little weird as well, as most of the time, he had to drive alone without knowing the roads. He used to drive with the help of navigator. Most of the time, he used to follow teammate Richard Blakey. A couple of times, he missed him. He did not know England well at the time. Sachin was asked to play an exhibition game in Newcastle which was in the evening. He didn’t realise that he was committed to another match in London. That game got over at 12 am. Both he and Jatin Paranjpe had to drive all the way from London to Newcastle in a car. In between, they took a few wrong turns, and by the time they reached, it was 8 am. The World XI players were just boarding the team coach. Sachin, after seeking the permission of the manager, went and slept for half an hour in his room. He then went to the ground and scored a hundred. That was the kind of commitment he showed through his career.
