In a landmark moment for Indian football, Coca-Cola has joined hands with the All India Football Federation (AIFF) to sponsor the Indian Women’s National Football Team for the next three years. The announcement was made by AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey during the Coca-Cola FIFA World Cup Trophy Tour event held in New Delhi on Saturday.
The association marks one of the most significant corporate partnerships for Indian women’s football and comes at a crucial juncture, with the national teams across age groups preparing for major continental assignments. Over the past year, Indian women’s football has gained considerable momentum after qualifying for the AFC Asian Cup by merit in all three categories – U-17, U-20 and the senior team — underlining the steady progress of the women’s programme.
Addressing the gathering, Chaubey emphasised the importance of corporate backing for the growth of the women’s game. “I have always said that women’s football has huge scope to grow,” he said. “It requires support, especially support from the corporate sector. For a long time, Indian football went through uncertainty, even to start a top-tier league, but the Honourable Sports Minister has stood by football with a kind heart. And now Coca-Cola has said they will support the Indian women’s football team for the next three years.”
The AIFF president further explained how the partnership would directly benefit the players. “From year one to year three, Coca-Cola will support Indian women’s football to ensure proper arrangements – including an international coach and exposure trips – so that these women do not fall behind due to lack of support. They must get global exposure and step onto the field ready to compete with the best footballing nations,” Chaubey added. He also thanked Sanket Ray, President of Coca-Cola South West Asia, for backing the national team.

The sponsorship is being seen as a breath of fresh air for Indian football, which has faced criticism and uncertainty over the past few months and years. For the women’s team, the deal provides much-needed stability and resources ahead of a decisive phase, with continental competitions lined up.
Coca-Cola’s association with football spans several decades. The global beverage major has been a continuous corporate partner of FIFA since 1974 and an official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup since 1978, with stadium advertising at every men’s World Cup since 1950. Their partnership with FIFA is confirmed through to 2030 and includes all FIFA tournaments, including youth and women’s events.
Notably, this agreement also marks the first time in recent history that an Indian national football team has secured an individual team sponsor, making it a significant milestone for the sport in the country.
