Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Smriti Mandhana expressed her happiness, pointing out that her team performed well as a unit against Gujarat Giants (GG) in the ninth match of the WPL 2026 to register their third consecutive win.
Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, she said: “It was good. I mean, all the girls and the partnership between Radha and Richa was something really special to watch. And then, yeah, eventually coming in and bowling those overs, crucial overs and getting those crucial wickets. Overall, the whole team performed really well today.”
Put in to bat first, RCB struggled in the early part of the match. At one point, they were 43/4 in 5.3 overs. However, from there, Richa Ghosh and Radha Yadav took the responsibility of rebuilding the innings and taking RCB to a competitive total. They stitched a partnership of 105 runs off 66 balls, which was instrumental in taking RCB to 182/7.
In reply, RCB bowlers did a commendable job, picking up wickets at regular intervals. Except for Bharti Fulmali’s 39, none of the GG batters could offer much resistance as they were bundled out for 150 in the 19th over. Shreyanka Patil picked up a five-wicket haul, while Lauren Bell finished with three wickets.
Mandhana said she had confidence in her bowlers to defend 182.
“But with our bowling, the way we’ve bowled in the first two matches and I mean the variety which we have, we have two quality left arm spinners, a good spinner again with pace bowling options as well. We have Bell, Aroo and Nadine. So I mean, when you have that sort of a variety and everyone can deliver under pressure. So, so for sure, I mean, we had that confidence.”
