UP Warriorz will wear a special pink jersey in the WPL 2026 match against Mumbai Indians on January 17 in Navi Mumbai to support girls’ education and promote second chances in learning.
This initiative is part of their partnership with Educate Girls, an organisation that works to help girls continue their education through flexible and open schooling systems.
In an official statement by the franchise, the director of Capri Sports, Jinisha Sharma, said, “At UP Warriorz, we believe sport has the power to shape conversations that extend far beyond the game. This special match reflects our belief that education should adapt to life, not the other way around. Through our partnership with Educate Girls, we hope to normalise second chances in education and remind every girl that her learning journey does not have to end because life took a different turn.”
The jersey has been created in collaboration with artist Harun Robert, also known as Rob, and carries handwritten notes from girls supported by Educate Girls.
Founder and Board Member of Educate Girls, Safeena Husain, also praised the step taken by the Warriorz for girls. “When girls see their dreams reflected on a platform as powerful as the WPL, it sends a powerful message that their voices and their aspirations matter. This partnership with UP Warriorz helps reframe education as a lifelong promise, not a one-time event, and shows that with flexible, accessible, second-chance programs, learning can begin, pause, and restart at any stage of a girl’s life,” Safeena said.
UP Warriorz have endured a tough start to the season and are currently at the bottom of the points table with only one win from four matches. Mumbai, on the other hand, are in second position with two wins from four matches.
