
Italy announced their 15-member squad on January 17 for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Wayne Madsen will lead the side in their historic appearance, which will be played in India and Sri Lanka.
The squad includes experienced players like former South Africa international JJ Smuts. It also features a set of two brothers, Harry Manenti and Benjamin Manenti, along with Anthony Mosca and Justin Mosca.
Italy qualified for the World Cup after finishing second in the Europe Regional Qualifier, just behind the Netherlands. The team was earlier led by Joe Burns during the qualification phase, but he was later removed from the captaincy and alsodropped from the squad.
The coaching staff includes head coach John Davison, with Kevin O’Brien and Dougie Brown as assistant coaches.
The 2026 T20 World Cup will start on February 7, with the final scheduled for March 8. Italy are placed in Group C along with Bangladesh, England, Nepal, and West Indies. They will begin their World Cup campaign against Bangladesh in Kolkata on February 9. Their next match is against Nepal in Mumbai on February 12. They will then return to Kolkata to face England on February 16 and West Indies on February 19.
