Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have added another name to their coaching staff by appointing Dishant Yagnik as their new fielding coach ahead of the IPL 2026 season. The franchise confirmed Yagnik’s appointment on Wednesday, January 21.
The 42-year-old wicketkeeper-batter has represented Rajasthan in domestic cricket, where he played 50 first-class matches. He was also part of the Rajasthan Royals setup during IPL 2011–14. After retiring, he moved into coaching and made a strong name for himself, serving as a fielding coach for several seasons.
At KKR, Yagnik will join an experienced coaching setup. The franchise has appointed Abhishek Nayar as the new head coach, with former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson as assistant coach. Andre Russell will serve as the power coach, while DJ Bravo has been named the team’s mentor. New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee has also been appointed as the bowling coach ahead of the 2026 season.
After lifting the IPL 2024 trophy, KKR finished the 2025 campaign in eighth position on the points table. In the IPL 2026 mini-auction, KKR made some big purchases, picking Australian all-rounder Cameron Green for ₹25.2 crore, who is seen as a replacement for Russell. They also bought Matheesha Pathirana for ₹18 crore. The franchise made some smart additions by signing Akash Deep, Tim Seifert and Finn Allen. They also invested in young players like Tejasvi Singh and Sarthak Ranjan at the mini-auction.
