Former Indian team head coach Ravi Shastri heaped praises on Gujarat Titans (GT), stating that they have been playing extremely well and could successfully defend their title if they maintain their current level of performance. During a discussion on Star Sports, Shastri also observed that GT has sustained their high level of play from the previous season, and has seven to eight players who can perform consistently.
During the last season, the Gujarat-based team displayed impressive consistency throughout the competition and ended the league stage at the top of the points table, winning ten out of fourteen games. They then secured victories against Rajasthan Royals in both the qualifier and the final, thereby winning the title under Pandya’s captaincy.
“Looking at the current form and team standings, I believe that Gujarat will win the trophy. There is consistency and flexibility in this team, and there are seven-eight players who are performing consistently. The players in this Gujarat side complement each other”, Ravi Shastri said on Star Sports.
Spearheaded by Hardik Pandya, the Titans currently hold the first position in the points table with 12 points, having secured six victories in nine matches, and at a commendable Net Run Rate (NRR) of 0.532.
Their upcoming game on Friday, May 5th, will see them face-off against last season’s runners-up, Rajasthan Royals, at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
