Rewind to those unforgettable days from September 24 to October 1, where the air crackled with anticipation, and the shooting range became a canvas for India’s marksmen to paint history.

Imagine the scene – a treasure trove of seven golds, nine silvers, and six bronzes, a testament to the indomitable spirit of our shooters. For eight days, they danced with bullets, showcasing skills that went beyond precision; it was a display of heart and grit.

Leading the charge were the dynamic duo, Palak Gulia and Sift Kaur Samra, each claiming individual gold in the 10m air pistol and 50m rifle 3 positions, respectively. Samra’s final score of 469.6 not only secured gold but painted a new world record, a stroke on the canvas of achievement.

The team events added another layer to this spectacle. Rudrankksh Patil, Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar and Divyansh Singh Panwar orchestrated a symphony of success, clinching gold in the 10m air rifle with a world record of 1893.7. Tomar, a standout maestro, composed his own tune, bagging individual silver and bronze in the 50m rifle 3P and 10m air rifle, making him India’s shooting virtuoso with a quartet of medals.

In this crescendo of achievement, teenager Esha Singh emerged as a rising star, mirroring Tomar’s success. Gold in the 25m pistol team event, silver in the 10m air pistol team event, and individual silver medals. India’s dominance resonated beyond individuals. Kynan Chenai, Zoravar Singh Sandhu, and Prithviraj Toindaman orchestrated perfection in the men’s trap team event, claiming gold with an Asian Games record of 361. Records bowed in reverence.

Sarabjot Singh, Arjun Singh Cheema, and Shiva Narwal waltzed their way to gold in the men’s 10m air pistol team, adding another jewel to India’s treasure chest. Sarabjot and Divya TS composed a duet of excellence, claiming silver in the 10m air pistol mixed team event.

The 2023 Asian Games unfolded as a turning point for India in shooting, a chapter of breaking records and creating history. With 22 medals, India’s shooting saga now boasts an impressive tally of 80, including 16 golds. As we savor these extraordinary moments, it’s impossible not to feel the heartbeat of Indian pride.
