Abhishek Sharma’s father, Raj Kumar Sharma, was seen spending time with his son, along with vice-captain Shubman Gill and Arshdeep Singh, during India’s final practice session ahead of the big clash against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 at the Dubai International Stadium.
Raj Kumar was seen greeting fielding coach T. Dilip, before softly kissing Abhishek’s bat. He was also spotted chatting and smiling with Shubman and Arshdeep during the practice session. The mood in the Indian camp appeared light and cheerful as the players prepared for the high-pressure game.
For Abhishek, this meeting comes just before a major match. The left-handed opener is set to play his first senior India-Pakistan fixture — a contest known for its intense pressure and global attention. Abhishek has already proven his mettle in international cricket. In 18 T20I matches, he has scored 565 runs at an average of 33.32, with a remarkable strike rate of 193.49, including two centuries.
In India’s opening match of the Asia Cup 2025, against the UAE, he scored 30 runs from just 16 balls, at a strike rate of 187.50. He’ll next be seen in action against Pakistan.
India versus Pakistan remains one of cricket’s most iconic rivalries. In the Asia Cup, the two teams have faced each other 19 times, with India winning 10 matches, Pakistan winning 6, and 3 games being abandoned.
