On June 16, 2024, senior officials from the All India Football Federation (AIFF) convened for a virtual meeting.
AIFF Vice President Mr. NA Haris presided over the meeting, which included Mr. Menla Ethenpa (Executive Committee Member and Finance Committee Chairperson), Mr. Anilkumar Prabhakaran (Executive Committee Member and Competitions Committee Chairperson), Mr. IM Vijayan (AIFF Technical Committee Chairman), Mr. Climax Lawrence (AIFF Technical Committee Member), and Mr. M. Satyanarayan (Acting Secretary General).

In light of the Senior Men’s National Team’s unsatisfactory performance in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualification campaign, the attendees unanimously agreed that appointing a new Head Coach would be the best step forward for the team.
Consequently, the Acting Secretary General, Mr. Satyanarayan, was directed to inform the current Head Coach, Mr. Igor Stimac, of the decision to terminate his contract. Following this directive, the AIFF Secretariat issued a termination notice to Mr. Stimac, relieving him of his duties immediately. The AIFF expressed gratitude for Mr. Stimac’s service and wished him success in his future endeavors.
