During the third day of the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at The Oval in London, Ajinkya Rahane reached a significant milestone by completing 5000 Test runs. Rahane showcased his resilience and determination by crafting a splendid half-century in challenging circumstances. Despite batting with a finger injury, Rahane fought valiantly against the formidable Australian pace attack and got to his 26th Test half-century with a four and a six off Pat Cummins.
Rahane is the 13th Indian cricketer to score 5000 runs in Test cricket. During a career thatrhas spanned a decade and 83 matches, he has amassed 12 centuries, while averaging just over 39.
During the WTC final, Rahane showcased his prowess in the field as well, reaching another milestone by taking his 100th Test catch to dismiss Cummins, the Australian captain, in the first innings.
