Gill had a match to remember, scoring a double-century in the first innings and a hundred in the second. In his first series as India’s Test captain, he has shown composure and determination, scoring 269 in the first innings and following it up with 161 in the second. His aggregate of 430 runs for the match is the second-highest in a Test match, only behind England’s Graham Gooch, who scored 456 against India in 1990.
